Energy efficiency and sustainability are core values that guide our operations and decisions at Aegis. We prioritize environmental stewardship by driving energy-efficient design by utilizing high-performance material to reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions over the building's lifespan.

Our ultimate goal is to contribute to healthier and more sustainable communities and meet the growing demand for environmentally responsible construction practices. For that reason, we stay abreast of changes and advancements in energy efficiency and sustainability practices. We are committed to engaging with and supporting the governing bodies that establish standards and guidelines for energy efficiency and sustainability cannot be overstated.

In our industry, LEED has emerged as the leading source for environmental standards. The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System is the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction and operation of high-performance green buildings. LEED gives building owners and operators the tools they need to have an immediate and measurable impact on their buildings’ performances. In addition to LEED, there are other governing bodies that play a pivotal role in shaping the practices and priorities of the construction industry, driving innovation, and fostering a more sustainable built environment.

ASHRAE - American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers. It is a professional association and standard-setting organization focused on heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVAC&R) systems and the built environment. ASHRAE is globally recognized for its contributions to the advancement of HVAC&R technology, energy efficiency, indoor air quality, and sustainability in buildings. [https://www.ashrae.org/]

Energy Star: Managed by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Energy Star provides energy efficiency ratings for buildings and products. Buildings that meet Energy Star requirements are recognized for their energy-saving performance. [https://www.energystar.gov/]

International Code Council (ICC): ICC develops and publishes the International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) and other model building codes that establish minimum requirements for energy efficiency in buildings. These codes serve as a basis for building regulations in many jurisdictions worldwide. [https://shop.iccsafe.org/]

International Organization for Standardization (ISO): ISO develops international standards for various industries, including building efficiency. Standards such as ISO 50001 for energy management systems and ISO 14001 for environmental management systems contribute to improving building efficiency and sustainability. U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC): USGBC is known for developing the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) rating system, which is widely used internationally to certify green buildings. [https://www.usgbc.org]

PHIUS stands for the Passive House Institute US. It is a non-profit organization committed to promoting the Passive House building energy standard in the United States. Passive House is a rigorous, voluntary standard for energy efficiency in a building, which reduces the building's ecological footprint. PHIUS provides training, certification, and resources for professionals in the construction industry interested in implementing Passive House principles. [https://www.phius.org/]
